Porosity

Edge Profiles

Quartz countertops are nonporous, making them highly resistant to water absorption and everyday staining. Many choose quartz because of its non-porous and food safe qualities.

Scratch, Heat and UV Resistance

Scratch, Heat and UV Resistance

Quartz resists everyday scratches, but no engineered quartz surface is completely scratch-proof.  Quartz is heat-resistant but not heat-proof. Manufacturers recommend using trivets or hot pads beneath hot cookware and countertop cooking appliances. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading, yellowing, or discoloration over time.

Maintenance

Quartz does not require sealing. Routine cleaning with mild soap, warm water, and a soft cloth is generally sufficient.

Environmental Impact

Environmental Impact

Quartz countertops are manufactured using natural minerals and synthetic resins, which require energy and resources to produce.

Although quartz is not biodegradable and can be difficult to recycle, its long lifespan and minimal maintenance requirements can help reduce the need for replacement.
